At Kintsugi Consulting, I believe that every crack in your leadership journey can be transformed into a beautiful seam of gold. As a small, woman-owned business, I am dedicated to helping individuals and organizations develop, grow, and shine as their best selves. In today's fast-paced world, leaders often struggle with personal growth and development, feeling the pressure to be perfect while navigating complex challenges. This can lead to stress, burnout, and a lack of fulfillment. Inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, or "golden joinery," Kintsugi Consulting embraces the beauty in imperfections. I provide tailored coaching and consulting services that help leaders embrace their flaws, learn from their experiences, and rebuild stronger, more resilient selves.
By working with Kintsugi Consulting, leaders will discover their unique strengths and turn their challenges into opportunities for growth. My approach leads to more authentic, empathetic, and effective leadership, resulting in improved team dynamics, increased productivity, and greater overall satisfaction. Unlike traditional consulting firms, Kintsugi Consulting celebrates the individuality of each leader. I use a holistic, personalized approach that combines ancient wisdom with modern strategies, empowering our clients to lead with confidence and authenticity.
Welcome! I'm Dr. Laural Logan-Fain, and I'm thrilled you're here. I'm a visionary leader, dedicated facilitator, and strategic coach with a passion for aligning business objectives with people-centric solutions. My journey has been guided by empathy and an unwavering commitment to results.
For over two decades, I've been transforming organizational cultures by amplifying individual stories, fostering empathy, and driving engagement. I believe in the power of connection and understanding, which has been a cornerstone of my work in creating and implementing programs that build cohesive teams and cultivate leadership from within. My goal is to empower leaders to transform and succeed, turning challenges into opportunities for growth.
Currently, I serve as the Vice President of Talent Management for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), where I oversee the People Business Partnership, Payroll, and Benefits Teams. I also proudly work as a Leadership Consultant and Facilitator at The University of Texas at San Antonio’s Center for Professional Excellence in the Alvarez College of Business.
Before joining the LPGA, I spent over a decade with the San Antonio Spurs-Basketball (Spurs Sports & Entertainment), culminating in my role as Associate Vice President of People Business Partnership. In 2014, I launched the Spurs’ corporate university, transforming it into a thriving, community-serving, and revenue-generating program that continues to flourish. My ability to deliver results while staying grounded in empathy sets me apart.
My academic journey includes earning a PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Oklahoma, co-authoring two books and numerous articles, and teaching at esteemed institutions like Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Our Lady of the Lake University, the University of Houston-Victoria, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.
In 2024, I founded Kintsugi Consulting, driven by a desire to help leaders transform their journeys, embrace their flaws, learn from their experiences, and emerge stronger.
When I'm not working, I love to travel and explore new cultures with my family. My husband and I enjoy spending time with our son Joseph, a big-hearted teenager, and our sassy rescue dog, CottonBall. Whether we're discovering new destinations or enjoying a quiet evening at home, my family is my constant source of inspiration and joy.
In 2021, amid the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself promoted into a VP-level role with the San Antonio Spurs. It was an exciting opportunity, yet life outside of work became increasingly challenging. With my husband frequently traveling for his job and our family hit hard by a deeply personal event, the pressures began to mount. My mental and physical health suffered, and balancing the demands of work and home felt impossible. Realizing that something had to give, I knew it could not be my family. I made the tough decision to take intermittent leave/FMLA to be more present for my family. During this time, I couldn't help but wonder if I had jeopardized my career, feeling broken and uncertain about the future.
It was around this time that I discovered Abby Wambach’s book, Wolfpack. Her story of stepping back from the Women's national team and redefining leadership resonated with me deeply. Abby wrote, “You are allowed to be disappointed when it feels like life’s benched you. What you aren’t allowed to do is miss your opportunity to lead from the bench. If you’re not a leader on the bench, don’t call yourself a leader on the field. You’re either a leader everywhere or nowhere.” These words helped shift my mindset, encouraging me to embrace my new reality and find ways to lead from where I was.
Around the same time, I stumbled upon the concept of kintsugi while facilitating a leadership series with a group of strategic initiatives executives. As I asked participants to share their leadership journeys, they bravely leaned into vulnerability and empathy. When one of them asked me to share my story, I spoke about kintsugi—the art of repairing broken pottery with gold. I realized that, like kintsugi, my experiences had made me stronger and more beautiful despite the cracks.
Inspired by these insights, I dreamed of creating Kintsugi Consulting. My goal was to help other leaders transform their own journeys, turning their challenges into opportunities for growth. Kintsugi Consulting was born out of a desire to inspire and support leaders in embracing their flaws, learning from their experiences, and emerging stronger.
